Hello Families;)

My name is Akane, and I am originally from Japan. I have several years of experience working with children aged 2–10. During high school, I volunteered at international schools where I enjoyed dancing, crafting, playing games, and singing with children. After graduating, I worked as an English teacher in Japan, mainly teaching children aged 2–10.

I enjoy creating a warm, nurturing, and engaging environment where children feel safe and confident. I believe positive communication is important, so I always greet children with a smile and encourage them by celebrating their achievements. When conflicts arise, I listen carefully to each child and help them find positive ways to solve problems and rebuild friendships.


I have been living in the Vancouver and New Westminster area for the past four years. I am currently studying in the Early Childhood Education (ECE) diploma program at Douglas College and have completed over 400 hours of practicum experience in childcare centers. I have experience in both play-based and Montessori-inspired classrooms, supporting children’s learning through hands-on activities and exploration. I will receive my ECE license in May and plan to continue my education to obtain a Special Needs ECE certificate.

In my free time, I enjoy learning languages (Japanese, English, beginner Spanish and Korean), hiking, jogging, reading, dancing Zumba, and making coffee.
